In view of the current climate emergency situation, the Generalitat de Catalunya has declared a state of emergency due to drought in 2020 municipalities, including Girona, and its surroundings, as well as the city of Barcelona and its metropolitan area.
“While a vehicle wash at home with a hose can consume about 400 litres of water according to a study by the ACA (Catalan Water Agency), in our Elefante Azul centres, pressure washing allows us to reduce this volume to 50-60 litres,” explains Manel Montero, CEO of Grupo Moure.

The climate emergency situation and the lack of water resources have forced the Generalitat de Catalunya to decree a state of emergency due to drought in more than 200 municipalities, including Barcelona, Girona and their respective metropolitan areas. Faced with this problem, the holding company with a presence in the energy and carwash sector Grupo Moure calls for responsibility and saving water in car washing.
“In the delicate moment we are going through with the drought, any action is welcome, no matter how small, and that is why we encourage our customers to continue going to the washing centres to avoid the usual waste in home washes,” says the CEO of Grupo Moure, Manel Montero.
On average, washing a car in a car wash involves an approximate consumption of between 50 and 60 litres of water, while with a home wash the cost can rise to 400 litres. To all this, Grupo Moure reminds that we must add the environmental work carried out in the Elefante Azul centers, since in these the remaining water and pollutants that arise from the washing process are collected and filtered, making the relevant separation of the waste generated.
“If in a home wash the accumulated pollution from vehicles falls on any surface, in our centers we have a water collection and treatment system that can allow the administration to recover a large part of this water, thus contributing to the conservation and protection of the natural environment,” reveals Montero.
At the same time, Washnet Factory, another brand under the umbrella of Grupo Moure, has recirculation systems to reduce water consumption, as well as recyclers that would allow the recovery of between 60 and 70% of the water consumed in the washing centre. “Thanks to our team of specialists we can find the best solutions for water treatment that help not only to save money, but also to comply with the present and future measures imposed by governments,” concludes the expert.
